I'm really sucking at this whole getting some pics thing but here are a couple I snapped this morning.
It's a slow go at the moment. I have a couple of cars on my drive which are waiting to go to the scrap yard whilst I take bits off them so the shuttle is a back seat project. But I'll be at least getting insurance and tax this week so I can go drive and have some fun with it.
The Astra needs some work on the brakes, oil change, fuel heater and electricals, so having the shuttle to go to work wont be a bad idea
Enjoy!!

The steering wheel logo is pretty cool. It didn't come out right so I'll get another picture with a better camera.
It's not a minter but the issues it has makes the process of transformation even funnier.
It will be a sleeper
Currently fitted to it is the D16A9 DOHC engine. It's supposed to have a D16A6 SOHC so it's got about 20-30bhp more than stock. Stainless manifold and zorst, and different intake. Engine bay shot to follow.
This engine is probably coming out. I want a SOHC lump in there which will probably be the D16Z6 engine, but the D16A6 is appealing for insurance reasons. I have to check that. They are all the same cc
Oh yeah, plenty of room for the snail too.
I'll try my damnest this weeked to fit these:
But changed my mind on these because they aint sleeper enough so will clean them up anyway and sell them:
I'll go with some 15" steelies or nasty OEM Honda alloys instead.
It's wicked to drive. There is zero wheel spin. I'm sure that will change a little with more power, but it's certainly a shock. My flatmate drove it back down when I got it and no wants one himself, being a loooong time crx VT owner.
I'm still looking for another tho. I'd love a minter in wine red, but for now... bring on the project _________________ 4WD Shuttle Turbo project

Here goes with another picture infusion:
Crazy window control panel on the driver's door.
The Sedan has much the same.
Honda lacking totally in style when they built this one:
Non-standard engine. Should be a SOHC:
6 speed box.
It's a super low gear, I guess for going up vertical hills, but I've tried a fast shift from SL to 1st.
It's hard and there is little point.
Hence it's probably the best condition gear in the box!
16V crx cluster and you can make out the extra bits on the H logo
The gear linkage is cable a bit like the K series and the H22 box.
It's making the stick a little wooly at rest but once the car is going it's much better.
I suspect that there is a way to tighten this up, I just need to find it and do it.
Shifter feels un-Honda-like not being a metal bar connection.
Craig, I know you want one
Clearance is a bit of an issue with the current manifold and zorst.
IMHO it's sitting too low.
I'll try and sort that out later, but it has a low of ground clearance at the moment so not a big problem.
Locating the zorst is troublesome.
The prop shaft for the rear wheels goes down what would normally be used as the tunnel.
The yanks say you can squeeze a 3" system in with it
You can just about make out the different sump in the above picture too. Lots of scarily custom things in the engine bay to accomodate the prop shaft and freaky gearbox.
I've got my eye on a few parts for it presently. Just waiting on PM's and stuff. Pictures will of course follow once/if I have them.
Clint's been of help with the info he's been giving from his project, so thanks for that matey. _________________ 4WD Shuttle Turbo project

Do the Honda engines out of the rover coupes fit into the civics??
If so my brother is selling a rover coupe, the bodywork has seen a lot better days but the engine, I was told, as it used to be my car, was rebuilt with a lower compression ready to be turboed. I think the receipt for the engine rebuild is somewhere, just no specs. Comes with a 4-2-1 manifold and regularly serviced by me, also has those bosch super4's in, as I put them in all of my cars.
If you're interested PM me and I'll get you some more details. _________________ Making perfection isn't always easy,

That cracked me up. Get some 15" VW G60 steels. They would look good and should clear 262mm's AFAIK (not 100% on that) _________________ Resident 4GUK spam finder |

Thanks I'll look out for them.
It's going to be getting some other VW parts so seems like a good idea to hunt down a VW scrapper.
I'm keeping an eye out for the tray for you Craig. They come up for sale from time to time. _________________ 4WD Shuttle Turbo project

Dave, that cable shift is probably very close to the D17 and newer k-series shifters, so there are a couple things you can do with it. They make aluminum shifter bushings for the linkage arms on the tranny and ones to replace the sloppy rubber bushings that surround the shifter assembly mounting bolts. I imagine it would tighten it right up. Using my eyeball ruler, that linkage arm looks identical in size to mine.
If you get a chance, snap a shot of the bare shifter assembly (console removed). I have a sneaky feeling you may be able to use a 7th gen stock or short shifter in there..... |
