Yes, vt forks are a lot wider to compensate for the thicker drive shaft.

I wondered this too becasue I've seen the wider and thinner forks on CRX SiR's verses VT's.
Not seen an issue with using the narrower width ones on a B series car myself.
Unless, the GL ones are yet a third one different??

I doubt I've seen a definately stock car TBH.

Height is the same, just the gap for the driveshafts are different.

Im not sure if the LCA/bushes are thicker on a VT or not, so they might be wider at the bottom where they bolt to the LCA... I'm sure someone can confirm.

I've never had both together so can't say for sure, but prehaps they are.

What car did he have, an EF?

I'm not happy with the explaination for this.
Doesn't work for me.

The GL and 16V share the same fork (checked with lings)
The bush on the lower arm is the same for all GL, 16V, VT.

The 16V and VT drive shafts are the same cup size and IIRC shaft diameter - or bloody close.

I think perhaps it's more to do with the steering, suspension movement and the differences in the chassis.
The VT chassis is wider in so far as the engine bay.
Are the shock towers the same distance apart? - measure both bolts across the bay.
What is the difference in turning circle between GL, 16V, VT ?

I have had both side by side and IIRC there is no difference in height, just width.
When working on someone's SiR I noticed that one side had one type and the other side the other type.
But it wasn't binding.
I might have both types in the garage. I'll look.

Yeah, but if it's due to location of the shafts front to back verses D series, why do the yanks never have problems with B series swaps and using the "GL" forks.

Which makes me think it's more to do with the uniqueness of the VT chassis.
Coupled with the B16 engine.

Yes the other kid had an EF so you rekon chassis could have something to do with why the car wont go lower?

So if you use gl forks their won't be an issue with b series shafts hitting/ rubbing? When on full lock or just general drive etc?

In my experience, no.
But your mileage may vary depending greatly on what mount you use.
That's a caveat. But I've personally never seen an issue with GL/16V on a VT chassis or GL/16V with a B swap.
