Are the 16v rack arms shorter than the SiR/VT ones?

If so, is that problem solved. Use 16V rack arms and TRE's?

I didn't cut the 16v tre's. I cut 10mm off the rack arms and got 20mm extra thread cut into them.
Was in 2003 so mm's are approx ;)
