crx delsol brake setup on gl?

Post by hoonda »

Ok so my dad crashed his crx a couple of weekends ago and im getting the oppertunity to get all the bits im wanting from it, I was just wondering if the disk setup front and back would fit my 1990 gl?.

also how difficult are rear lca bolts on the gl's? Im going to be fitting coilovers soon and I was just wondering if they are going to be a nightmare as I have heard some nasty storys about them lol. Any advice you can give to make it easier?

Sounds like it should be easy enough then :). The delsol is just an esi but it has the D16Y8 engine fitted so I will be robbing that for the head etc along with pretty much everything I can use to aid the 4g or my eg.

It might sound daft me asking but why should I keep my drums?

Unless you are planning some pretty serious power increase the rear drum should be fine, simple and no problems with sticking calipers. :top:

Sounds logical to me now after you mentioned the handbrake haha.

I just thought I would be better to upgrade the whole lot but if it gives no real advantage then it just sounds like more hastle lol

Defo change to discs mate much better breaking but change the master cylinder to match. The only problem with the front hubs and breaks from eg/delsol is that they make the wheels camber out but if you are planing on slamming your car the wheels will camber back in and sit perfectly. The rear hubs is a direct swop but make sure you use the delsol flexi as they different. The Lca bolts are usually ok to undo but only undo the bolt that holds the Lca to the hub. Unless they have been changed recent it's the shock bolt that snaps. Oh and you will need to use the delsol hand break cables. Any probs give me a shout as I done this to mine.

Sounds like a plan then as I will be putting my avo coilovers and maybe the eg front forks on my ec, how low will I need to go to get zero/neg camber again?
